Submitting Prerequisites

Modified on Wed, Nov 29, 2023 at 1:19 PM

Heads up! This article is intended for volunteers.

You might have to submit prerequisites when you register on a site or try to view or respond to volunteer opportunities. These prerequisites are important for the following:

  • Ensuring that you're matched with opportunities that best meet your skills and qualifications
  • Completing waivers or reviewing important content before you volunteer with an organization

How to submit prerequisites

Some organizations require you to complete prerequisites when you create an account. Others require you to submit prerequisites when you click on an opportunity to respond. However, sometimes they'll add prerequisites later—after you've already registered and made an account. You can always review, submit, or update prerequisites from your profile!

1. Click on your initials or profile image and select Prerequisites2. From here, submit any prerequisites that you have listed under Incomplete Prerequisites3. Be sure to click Submit Prerequisites to save your changes!

Review a prerequisite

If you need to review or update your prerequisites, you can do so from your profile as well. From here, you can:

  • Review the status
  • See when it expires
  • Update when necessary

  • If a prerequisite can be updated, a pencil icon appears under Options for you to edit it.

  • Some prerequisites ask you to upload a file, answer a question, or sign a waiver.
    • If you update a prerequisite, it may have a status set to pending until a site manager can review and approve it.
    • If you don't see the option to update a prerequisite, you can reach out to the site manager and ask them if you can resubmit a response to the prerequisite.
      • This is particularly useful if the wrong file was accidentally uploaded to the prerequisite.
  • Depending on the site, you may be asked to complete a background check on a third-party site for a prerequisite.

✏️ Quick tip: Try reaching out to the organization if you're curious about the status of your prerequisites—especially if you're waiting on approval to respond to volunteer opportunities.
