Your User Filter

Your site offers several filtering options to help you collect, find, and review the important information you need! Your User Filter is great for: 

  • Creating a list of targeted volunteers. 
    • For example, maybe you want to review all of the volunteers that responded to a specific opportunity on your site. 
    • Maybe you want to narrow down a list of volunteers who share the same skill. 
  • Exporting important data. 
    • Do you want to see who has reached a certain benchmark? 
    • Maybe you want to find the volunteers with the most hours on your site! 
  • Performing certain actions—like removing tags, resetting passwords, scheduling volunteers, etc.

How to use the User Filter

You can access the User Filter from: 

  • Volunteerism > Users
    • We will focus on the User Filter from the Users area of your site in this article.
  • Communication > Email Blasts
    • Click here for more information about using the User Filter in the Email Blast area of your site. 

How to add a new filter

To add a new filter: 

1. Go to Volunteerism > Users

2. Click User Filter

3. Select the filter you want to apply: 

  1. Select the filter type: 
  2. Select the next filter to apply based on the type you picked—in this example, we've selected User Data, so the next field narrows down the specific user data we are looking for: 
  3. We selected Date Added, so now we choose when and a specific date too: 

4. Click Submit when you're done! 

How to add more than one filter

After you have applied your first filter, you can always add more! Click the Add New Filter + and repeat the process

How to save a filter

You can also save the filters that you have added so that you can use them again at a later time!

1. Give the filter a title. 

2. Click Save User Filter

✏️ Quick tip: To load a saved filter, select the filter from the dropdown menu and click Load:

How to export user filter data

Once you've applied all of the filters you need, you can export that data to a CSV. Click the Export All Users button found under Manage Users

How to perform bulk actions on filtered users

After you've applied all of the filters you need, you can then perform various tasks in bulk for those users. Select which action you want to take from the Select An Action dropdown under Manage Users

✏️ Quick tip: Be sure to click Submit after you apply your filters so that these actions only apply to the list of users that you want them to apply to. 


Commonly used filters 

Here is a list of some of the more commonly used filters and why we think they're great!

User Data > Date Added

This filter is great for seeing who has been added to your site and when! You can keep track of the users that have registered on your site within a specific date range. 

User Data > Date Last Logged InThis filter is great for monitoring how active volunteers are on your site. You can select a specific date range to see when they last logged into your site. 
User Data > User Group Do you want to see who belongs to what User Group? This is great if you want to schedule those users or if you want to add or remove them from the User Group. 
User Data > Registration QuestionsWould you like to see which volunteers answered the registration questions the same? This is great for finding volunteers that have matching answers. They might be good candidates for a User Group! 
User Data > User email statusThis can help you figure out if volunteers are receiving your notifications or if they've opted out of them. 
User Data > User tagsThis is great for reviewing specific user profiles or site activity! You can also add or remove tags in bulk as needed. 
Volunteer > Opportunity ResponseWould you like to see who has responded to an opportunity? This can help with scheduling! It is also a great way to see which opportunities are getting the most attention on your site and which might need a bit more promotion for engagement. 
Volunteer > PrerequisiteThis is great for reviewing who has met the prerequisite requirements and who hasn't. You can also review expired, inactive, or pending prerequisites too!  
Volunteer > Volunteer HoursDo you want to see who has logged the most hours on your site? This is the filter for you! You can use this data to show appreciation to your most active volunteers, etc. 
Volunteer > Shift dateDo you want to see who is scheduled for a shift on a specific date? You can see who is scheduled for a specific date to help you determine your shift needs!
